Now that Spring is finally here, think of how good it feels to experience that first blast of clean, outside air. It not only feels good, but it might also improve your overall health. The Japanese government spent millions studying the effects of spending time in nature- or SHINRIN YOKU– the Japanese term for “forest bathing”.
Forest bathing involves slowing down; unplugging your electronics; and enjoying the sights, sounds and scents of the environment to reduce stress and boost health.
Try it! Find a quiet spot to sit (like Edgemere Park?)
- Inhale deeply
- Listen to the sounds around you
- Look closely at the colors of the seasons
- Open your senses to SHINRIN YOKU.
