We’ve added two new resources to our Resources section, and if you’ve got a yard in New Jersey, both are worth a look.

Invasive Plants and Native Alternatives for Landscapes (Rutgers Cooperative Extension) breaks down why some of our most familiar landscape plants are actually working against local ecosystems, and offers native swaps that support the same wildlife invasives crowd out.

New Jersey’s new plant ban covers the news side of things. As of January 2026, the state’s Invasive Species Management Act bans the sale and propagation of over 30 plants, including burning bush, Norway maple, and Bradford pear. If any of these are already growing on your property, you don’t have to rip them out. But it’s a good reminder to know what’s in your yard.
