SEA GIRT — The Borough of Sea Girt and Sea Girt Conservancy tackled invasive species and debris on the outskirts of Edgemere Park, overlooking Wreck Pond from Route 71 on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.
It was one of several cleanups a year led by the Sea Girt Conservancy, an nonprofit organization founded in 2020 with a mission of promoting the preservation, enjoyment and maintenance of parks and open space, according to its website.
The group organized a deep cleanup of unwanted debris and plant materials along the pond.
“Our big thing is to preserve the open spaces here in town,” said Donna Thurston, “We want to keep these lands from being overrun by the invasive species, that’s what’s happened.”
