Award

At the Sea Girt Conservancy (SGC), we are proud to share some incredible milestones we’ve reached on our journey towards environmental stewardship. Our unwavering commitment to conservation has been recognized through awards and grants that highlight the remarkable work we’ve undertaken. Here’s a closer look at the honors we’ve received and the grants that will further our mission.

Awards & Recognition

ANJEC-Environmental Achievement Award (2023): In 2023, we were honored to receive the prestigious Environmental Achievement Award from the Association of NJ Environmental Commissions (ANJEC). This accolade is a testament to our dedication to restoring a portion of Edgemere Park and creating a thriving pollinator garden.

Monmouth County Planning Merit Award: The Monmouth County Planning Board recognized our relentless efforts to reclaim Edgemere Park and revitalize it with native plants. This Merit Award underscores our commitment to preserving our local ecosystems.

Grants Received

Monmouth County Open Space Grant: Collaborating closely with the Borough of Sea Girt, we successfully secured a grant from the Monmouth County Open Space (MCOS) program. This grant will fund the implementation of the Edgemere Pollinator Garden, covering expenses such as fencing, planting, and the removal of invasive species.

Monmouth Conservation Foundation (MCF) Grants: We are incredibly grateful to the Monmouth Conservation Foundation for their generous support. We received two anonymous grants, totaling $15,000, which were specifically designated for the Edgemere Pollinator Garden project. The MCF’s generosity will play a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to life.

Monmouth Audubon 2023 Bird Conservation Grant: Our commitment to environmental diversity is further highlighted by the grant we secured from the Monmouth Audubon Society. This grant will be utilized for the installation of four bird boxes at two different locations in Sea Girt. Two of these bird boxes will provide homes for Eastern Bluebirds, while the other two will accommodate tree swallows. We are thrilled to announce that this exciting project is scheduled for collaboration with the Sea Girt Elementary School in 2024, fostering environmental education and bird conservation.

These awards and grants reflect the dedication and passion of the Sea Girt Conservancy. Our impactful work not only restores local ecosystems but also engages our community in meaningful ways. We look forward to the positive changes that these awards and grants will bring to Sea Girt and its natural surroundings. Join us in celebrating our commitment to the environment and our vision for a sustainable future!
