The Sea Girt Conservancy is excited to share an exciting new addition to the Edgemere Park Pollinator Garden: a full set of educational plant identification signs designed to help visitors learn more about the garden’s diverse native species. Each sign includes the plant’s common name, scientific name, and a QR code that links to additional information, making it easy for anyone to explore the garden with nothing more than a smartphone.
These signs made their debut during our June 8th Open House, where more than thirty community members joined us for guided walks through the garden. Guests tested out the new signs as they explored, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Visitors loved the mix of technology and nature, and many shared that the signs helped them recognize plants they had walked past countless times without knowing their names.
Examples of species now labeled include Marginal Woodfern (Dryopteris marginalis) and Trumpet Creeper (Campsis radicans), along with many others that support local pollinators and contribute to the ecological health of Edgemere Park.
The new signage is part of the Conservancy’s ongoing effort to make Sea Girt’s green spaces more welcoming, educational, and accessible. If you missed the Open House and would like a tour of the Pollinator Garden—or if you’re simply curious about the plants thriving there—reach out to the SGC. We’re always happy to share this special place with neighbors and nature lovers alike.
