In the northern section of the beach, known as the Back Dune, volunteers from the Sea Girt Conservancy (SGC), in collaboration with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Department of Public Works (DPW), successfully removed invasive Japanese Knotweed. Several weeks later, they planted a variety of native species, including American Beach Grass, Little Bluestem, Northern Sea Oats, Bitter Panic Grass, Hackberry, and Holly.
