Plant Description

The Orange Coneflower (Rudbeckia fulgida) is a perennial native to New Jersey, known for its bright yellow-orange, daisy-like flowers that bloom from June to October. Each flower, measuring 2 to 3 inches across, features slightly curved petals with toothed tips surrounding a brown-purple central disk. Standing 1 to 4 feet tall, the plant has bristly-haired stems and scattered oval leaves, adding a distinctive texture to gardens (Jersey-Friendly Yards).

This versatile species thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soils. It is not only a vibrant addition to gardens but also an ecological asset, providing nectar for bees and serving as a seed source for birds. Its long-lasting blooms make it a favorite for perennial borders, rain gardens, and fresh-cut flower arrangements (Jersey-Friendly Yards).
