This April, in celebration of New Jersey Native Plants Month, the Monmouth Conservation Foundation spotlighted the Sea Girt Conservancy’s restoration work at Edgemere Park—recognizing it as a model for native plant stewardship in Monmouth County.
Through a partnership with the Foundation and support from two anonymous grants totaling $15,000 via the National Philanthropic Trust, SGC transformed 9,600 square feet of park space into a vibrant pollinator garden. The project replaces invasive species with native flora that offer essential habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
The garden includes a winding path, seating, educational signage, and feeders—all irrigated with on-site well water and protected by deer fencing. As part of SGC’s Strategic Landscape Plan, it reflects our long-term commitment to biodiversity, education, and sustainable public spaces.
We’re grateful to the Monmouth Conservation Foundation for helping make this possible—and for recognizing Sea Girt as a leader in local conservation.
